Texas Garden Salve
Texas Garden Salve
Made from the garden for the gardener's hands
Description
Description
Our Texas Garden Salve was made with herbs I grew or collected from a friend’s garden. This magical green salve is perfect for the gardener. There are so many benefits to digging your hands into the dirt. Beneficial bacteria in the soil hops into our systems from our hands and gives us a boost of digestive prowess. Getting your hands dirty improves our mood! How magical is that? The very act of growing your own food is a positive feedback loop. I love that. The things that are good for us, are good for us in so many small and miraculous ways.
Playing in the dirt can also dry out our hands and make many tiny tears in our skin. I created this salve as the perfect antidote for those garden woes, made with love from the garden itself.
Back in April, I visited my friend Peach at her beautiful home in the outskirts of Austin. Spring in Texas is a wild ride, one day hot and humid, the next pouring rain. This day was both. As soon as I set foot on her jungle property, it started to drizzle. I was met by a gregarious black cat who followed me everywhere I went. Peach appeared out of her Cobb house and showed me around her primeval forest of herbs and vegetables. I collected some red clover, pink ladies, rosemary, and comfrey. I added oregano and rosemary from my own garden, dried out all the happy herbs and infused them into organic hempseed oil. Not the illicit kind of hemp, the kind that is full of heady healing fats. Our skin loves hemp oil.
Et Voila! Here we have a gardener’s salve made with love from the garden to aid in all woes the garden can create. Except it won’t keep the bugs and squirrels away. A salve can’t do that. Remember if no one else wants to eat your plants, you’re not a part of the ecosystem.

This salve is SO nice! Everything they sell smells great, but this is my favorite smelling Folk potion so far. It’s also been really soothing for the skin irritation caused by my post-op binder. It’s also lasting forever. Two weeks daily use on large areas and I’ve barely made a dent. If you’re on the fence, DO IT! 🤩

I use it on hands, wrists and elbows, which often ache. It works great, both to moisturize chapped skin and to relieve the ache.

I use this in my print making studio to protect my hands when using inks and acrylic paint. Makes clean up easier and keeps my hands from drying out. Great stuff!!
