Texas Wildcrafted Bee Balm Balm

The wildflowers of Texas cycle through beautiful seasonal colors. First, the agarita briefly bloom their sweet smelling yellow buds. Next blush is the famous bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. Then comes prairie coneflowers and bee balm. After bee balm, we have blue bells and snow on the mountain. The profusion of wildflowers is one of my favorite things about Texas. 

This year, on mothers day, my kids and I wildcrafted bee balm from our neighborhood which is gratefully surrounded by greenbelt. We only took what we needed and left most for the bees. Then I dried the blossoms, infused them into organic olive oil and set it oil into a limited edition salve. I sourced hill country beeswax from my friend at Buzz In the Hills, a local candle maker. We added bee balm essential oil made by Trevor from Beerburg Brewing. The resulting Bee Balm Balm is a hyper local salve that is soothing for cuts, scrapes, rashes, bug bites and all the skin maladies of summertime. Nature shares with us exactly what we need and when we need it.
